Initially I thought that the month of September wasn’t exactly good to me as far as my reading went. When looking at my log, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I actually finished three audio books and three print books, one of which was 576 pages. All in all, not a bad month. Now to get those reviews written and posted…
October has a ton of great releases scheduled. I’ve got a few of them in this monthly planner and hope to feature some additional titles throughout the month.
I initially included The Girl you Left Behind by Jojo Moyes in my September 2013 reading plan hoping that I would get to it, but never quite got there. This is the October selection for the She Reads book group. I’m about 20 pages in at this point and interested to see what direction the story takes.
The Elementals by Francesca Lia Block is the October Hashtag Book Club selection. I know absolutely nothing about this book or the author. Looking at the publisher’s website I am intrigued by this synopsis.
The Elementals is on one level an intriguing coming-of-age novel about a young woman, Ariel Silverman, facing the challenges of her first years away at college in Berkeley, California, while her mother battles cancer at home in Los Angeles. But the book takes on deeper, stranger meanings when we realize that Ariel is haunted by the disappearance of her best friend, Jeni, who vanished without a trace a few years before, closing Ariel’s heart and changing her forever. Ariel wonders if she will ever be fully alive, until she meets three mysterious, beautiful and seductive young people living in a strange old house in the Berkeley hills. Through them Ariel will unravel the mystery of her best friend’s disappearance and face a chilling choice.
From one of my favorite authors, A.L. Jackson I have the privilege of reading If Forever Comes, the second in The Regret Series. I’ve already read the first installment, Take This Regret and am looking forward to seeing what happens next.
I did a quick inquiry on twitter last week about great women’s fiction titles that people have read or listened to reacently and learned about The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman. I’m hoping to be able to pick it up on audio. It seems like it might be a good reminder to remember where you came from…
Many of us have long been looking forward to Morning Glory by Sarah Jio which is scheduled for release in late November 2013. I won an ARC some time ago and am hoping to get ahead of schedule for once and read the book in advance.
Another Women’s Fiction favorite author Allison Winn Scotch has a new novel coming out in November. The Theory of Opposites tackles that age old question of whether or not our future is in our hands or is it fate?
The next two titles that I hope to get to this month were featured in this months Bloggers Reccomend Newsletter. If you aren’t already a subscriber, I urge you to check it out. I’m including them here and I hope to get to them for the Bloggers Reccomend Challenge that is hosted by Michelle at My Books My Life.
Red Hill by Jamie McGuire looks like a bit of a departure for me, but I’ve heard such fantastic things about it that I welcome it, although I am feeling a bit intimidated by some of the early reviews. They mention the word scare… I’ve told you before about what a wimp I am, right?
How to Be a Good Wife by Emma Chapman looks like another interesting departure for me featuring “a woman who begins having visions that make her question everything she knows.”
Are there any books that you are looking forward to reading this month?
