My thoughts: The Black Rabbit is both beautifully written and illustrated. Rabbit is going about his day when he notices the Black Rabbit following him. As he tries to elude the Black Rabbit, he runs into the woods where he encounters something to be feared. Suddenly the Black Rabbit isn’t quite so scary.

I love reading this with my monkey. We have had an interactive experience from the very first reading because he anticipated what was going to happen and took a guess. Since that first reading it is like we are reading it together. As a mama that makes me happy as I look forward to reading together in the future.

Monkey has always been interested in shadows and light. He loves to experiment with the flashlight, seeing what holding it at different angles does. Reading The Black Rabbit has added to the discussion of shadows and truly lets me see his little mind at work.

Thanks so much for the post. Just this week, I saw this book advertised in the lastest book listings at school. I read your review and it’s not on my “buy” list for my preschoolers.
