Here Comes Science CD and DVD from They Might Be Giants

My thoughts: Many aspects of life change when you have kids, including the things you watch on television or the music you listen to.
Have you ever had the pleasure of watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with your little one? If so, you are already familiar with They Might Be Giants, they perform the Hot Dog Song. (They’ve also done more adult appropriate albums, but I’m not familiar with them.)
Here Comes Science is both educational and fun for adults and children alike. This is one of those disks that you cannot help but sing along to. The tunes are catchy, but while singing along you are likely to learn something as well. I will admit that Science was never my strong subject during school, but these tunes make it fun and have often been a springboard for further discussion. My absolute favorite song on the disk is Roy G Biv. Roy G Biv teaches us about the color spectrum.
We received this album as a gift shortly after its release and was on heavy rotation in the car until we misplaced it. A calamity that will have to be resolved in fairly short order. In the meantime we’ve begun watching the DVD that comes with it. The DVD consists of short videos of the songs. They alternate between being just plain adorable and hilarious.
We will be checking out some of the other children’s offerings from They Might Be Giants. It can be difficult to find music that is considered child appropriate without being syrupy sweet and/or annoying. If you have kids, what kind of music do you listen to with them?

LOVE They Might Be Giants kids albums. And they are great in concert (though when I took my 5 year old it was tough to tell who was more into it, the kids or the grownups). Their album NO! is fantastic.
I’m going to have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oooh thanks for this review! I will need to get a copy. My son is obsessed with the Hot Dog song on MMCH, as well as TMBG’s Here Come The ABCs CDs. They do great kid stuff.
