Who hasn’t tasted a bit or two of their favorite cookie dough when baking a batch of cookies? We all know its one of those things we *shouldn’t* do, right? I’ll admit that it was once one of my favorite parts of baking.
Feel guilty no more. Lindsay Landis, author of the Cookie Dough Lovers Cookbook has given us permission to partake in a treat that we love, raw cookie dough! Beyond providing a very simple eggless cookie dough recipe that is meant to be enjoyed straight from the bowl, she’s written an entire book of recipes that incorporate cookie dough.
Since we are smack in the middle of the hottest part of summer, I dread turning on the oven and making the house hotter than it already is. As a consolation, I often pick up this book and admire (drool over) the tasty treats inside. Each time I pick up the book I discover yet another treat that I want to make.
Finally, I had a craving for something sweet that I just couldn’t resist. I found a few minutes and whipped up a batch of the basic eggless chocolate chip cookie dough. My impression… it didn’t seem nearly as indulgent as I remember these stolen bites being, but it was still pretty good. I have to wonder, if I could somehow incorporate the pudding mix that goes into my usual chocolate chip cookies, would I feel differently?
None the less, I adore this book. My mouth waters at the photographs of these treats. I’m especially looking forward to baking the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie Dough Blondies. If only I owned an ice cream maker, I’d definitely be giving the Old Fashioned Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches a try. In the mood for a different breakfast? I would try the Cookie Dough stuffed French Toast, it looks really indulgent!
Who knew that cookie dough could be used for so much more than just cookies? I’m really looking forward to the cooler weather of fall so that I can try some of the baked treats. I know what book I’ll be reaching for when the Holiday pot luck season rolls around.
Indulgent treats that are both simple and elegant, you bet!
I’m so excited to be able to FINALLY participate in Weekend Cooking Presented by BethFishReads!

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie Dough Blondies? Could be my all-time favorite.
Yay! I’m so glad you joined in this week. And with a great cookbook. I have this one and haven’t yet had time to sit down with it. You’re right, it’s perfect for summer when the thought of heating up the kitchen is just too much to take.
I know what you mean. My mouth is watering.
Pudding mix, huh? I’ve never thought about that before! I really loved the cookie dough mixture from this book but I’m guessing it’s probably pretty similar to what I would have made anyway without the egg (usually make the Tollhouse Choco Chip recipe). All I know is that I had some in the freezer to make the cheesecake and then the truffles and I finally had to get rid of the extra because I couldn’t stop eating it.
It’s definitely a fun book!
Oh yeah, its a JELLO recipe that my mom found in a box when I was young. We all still use it. It makes the best cookies and of course you can make a variety of flavors depending on the flavor of pudding mix that you use. Love it!
oh YUM! This is one that I want
My cookbook collection just grows and grows LOL
