My thoughts: I love to see the excitement in my little monkey’s eyes when he opens a book for the first time. The wonder he experiences as he takes it all in. He’s been spending more time with more advanced books. He frequently asks to have a “chapter book” read to him these days, but at the ripe old age of 4, board books and picture books are still special to him as well.
Monkey, his little brother and I sat down to read Noodle with Monkey leading the way. He turned the pages as we talked about what he saw. Baby brother looked up in awe as I moved his little hand to the sensory elements on each page.
Noodle is a very simple book with bright colors to draw the attention of the smallest reader. Thick board pages are easy to grab, and the simple phrases just right for holding on to even the shortest of attention spans.
It was a great way to spend a few minutes with my boys at the end of a hectic workday.
