The 2012 ArmChair Audies

2012 ArmChair Audies

Jennifer at Literate Housewife has announced the 2012 Armchair Audies. As an audiobook enthusiast I absolutely have to participate in them. Jennifer was inspired to create the challenge/event when looking at the list of Audie Nominees and noting that many audiobook listeners in her circle had listened to very few of them. The bloggers participating are selecting a desired category with intent of listening to each of the nominated titles and making predictions on who is going to take home the award. Predictions will be revealed the week of May 28th.

The entire list of categories and nominees can be found at www.theaudies.com. I’ve selected two categories. The first is Children’s Titles Ages up to 8, and the second is Biography/Memoir. I think that these are both going to be a lot of fun for me. I’m really looking forward to listening to the nominees in the children’s category with my little ones.

The Nominees in Children’s Titles Ages up to 8 are:

The Nominees in the Biography/Memoir Category are:

I’m hoping that my library has a bunch of these. Wish me luck!

  1. I am so glad that you are joining us. I hope those children’s books are as fun as they look. I’m especially curious about Weird Al’s book. Here’s to a wonderful Armchair Audies experience!

  2. If you can get your hands on the Tina Fey one—do :)

Also in that category but not making the finals: Jane Lynch, Judi Dench, and Kristen Chenowith :) I loved all of their biographies too and I listened to all 3!

I’m very glad you’re participating. I’ve heard wonderful things about the Al Yancovitz book, and can’t wait to read your take on it. I’ve considered it as a gift for the nephew’s & niece.

Although I have it, I still haven’t listened to Bossypants. Memoirs are not usually my thing but there are a few I’m interested in, including Simon Pegg’s and Kevin Smiths.

  4. How coool!
Question: Are the audiobooks provided to you? Or does one need to acquire them on their own?
