My thoughts: Izzy takes a job reading essays that ask the writer to comment on whatever topic in 100 words or less. I am going to attempt to tell you about The Seven Year Bitch using that format. Wish me luck!
The Seven Year Bitch in 100 words or less:
After the loss of her job Izzy is lost, having been a high-powered hedge fund executive she doesn’t quite know how to handle her free time. She takes on a multitude of projects including trying to get her nanny pregnant. An odd story of misplaced priorities and feeling like “the grass is greener” leads Izzy down paths that make for a humorous tale and an unexpected guilty pleasure. The thing that Izzy needs to remember is that misery loves company and there are things that she loves about her life. She just needs to be reminded what they are.
Opinion: This is one of those books that makes you question why women are so evil toward one another on a consistent basis. There were times that I had to chuckle while reading it and others where I was rolling my eyes. The story is occasionally a bit lewd but those moments completely fit in with the other odd bits in the story.
The Seven Year Bitch would make a great beach read for someone who wants a little bit more than your typical chick lit or beach read. It might fall into the category of “mom lit”. It is still pretty fluffy and often facetious, some portions read like your typical chick lit, there aren’t any twenty somethings involved.
I wanted to read The Seven Year Bitch last year when it came out and I’m glad that I got the opportunity this year. While I don’t feel like it was time wasted, I don’t think that it has earned one of the coveted permanent spots in my personal library. I will be passing it on to my other bookish friends.

“makes you question why women are so evil toward one another on a consistent basis” – oh how true!
I’m glad you enjoyed this one even if it wasn’t a favorite for you. Thanks for being a part of the tour.
I had to zoom over to see what you thought of this since I had such mixed feelings about this book! First, I love the 100 word review — hilarious — and v nicely done! I definitely wanted to throttle Izzy — except for those moments when I just wanted to pat her on the head. She was maddening! And yet, this book def provoked much convo with me and my friends. So…that’s a success!
